We're looking for an experienced Freelance Videographer/Editor to support a one-day video shoot in Halifax, with the potential for post-production and editing work to follow.

The video will tell a positive, documentary-style story centred on community, fundraising, and local impact. The successful freelancer will be responsible for capturing polished, professional footage that feels authentic, warm, and engaging.

Responsibilities

  • Lead video production for a one-day shoot in Halifax
  • Capture high-quality documentary-style footage based on a detailed shot list
  • Film interviews, candid moments, environmental footage, and supporting B-roll
  • Ensure all footage meets commercial production standards
  • Manage lighting, sound, camera setup, and on-site technical execution
  • Work professionally and collaboratively with participants, clients, and other stakeholders
  • Organize and deliver all captured footage following the shoot
  • Potentially edit the footage into polished final video assets
  • Incorporate feedback and revisions during post-production, if applicable

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience shooting commercial, documentary, branded-content, or community-focused video
  • A strong portfolio showcasing polished interview footage, storytelling, and B-roll
  • Ability to create work that feels positive, upbeat, authentic, and emotionally engaging
  • Must provide all required production equipment, including professional cameras, lenses, lighting, tripods, audio equipment, and wireless microphone packs
  • Strong understanding of lighting, composition, sound recording, and on-location production
  • Professional, reliable, organized, and comfortable working independently
  • Able to follow a comprehensive shot list and capture all required content efficiently
  • Based in Halifax or available to work on location in Halifax

Nice to Have

  • Experience editing commercial or documentary-style video content
  • Proficiency with Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, or comparable editing software
  • Experience producing content for nonprofit, fundraising, community, or purpose-driven organizations
  • Ability to provide colour correction, audio mixing, music integration, and final file delivery

No storyboarding will be required, as a thorough shot list and clear creative direction will be provided in advance.

This is a great opportunity to help bring an uplifting, community-focused story to life through thoughtful, commercial-quality video production.
