We're partnering with a high-growth technology company to hire a Senior Director, Product Marketing who will help redefine the role Product Marketing plays within the organization.
This is a significant leadership opportunity for someone who believes Product Marketing should be much more than a downstream launch function.
Working as part of the broader Product function, you'll build a more strategic, influential and differentiated Product Marketing function - one that helps shape product strategy, deeply understands customers, creates compelling narratives, and brings products to market in ways that drive meaningful business outcomes.
We're looking for a leader who combines exceptional storytelling and positioning skills with strong Product Marketing fundamentals, executive influence, change leadership, and an AI-forward mindset.
What You'll Be Doing
Elevate Product Marketing
- Define and evolve the vision for Product Marketing within the organization.
- Move the function further upstream, ensuring customer and market perspectives inform product strategy - not simply how products are launched.
- Establish stronger standards, practices and ways of working across the Product Marketing team.
- Clarify how Product Marketing partners with Product Management, Design, Marketing and other commercial functions.
- Identify opportunities to rethink traditional Product Marketing approaches and introduce better, more effective ways of working.
- Lead and develop a team of experienced Product Marketing professionals.
Own the Product Narrative
- Develop a clear, differentiated and compelling narrative for a growing portfolio of products.
- Translate product strategy into positioning and messaging that resonates with customers and the market.
- Connect individual product stories into a cohesive broader narrative.
- Raise the quality bar for messaging, presentations, product content and other market-facing communications.
- Ensure product storytelling is distinctive, consistent and grounded in customer insight.
- Personally contribute to high-impact positioning, messaging and storytelling work.
Influence Product Strategy
- Become a trusted thought partner to senior Product and company leadership.
- Bring customer, competitive and market insights into strategic product conversations.
- Help teams understand not only how to take products to market, but what will make them meaningful and differentiated when they get there.
- Influence product priorities, packaging, customer experience and commercialization decisions where appropriate.
- Challenge assumptions constructively and bring a strong, informed point of view.
Lead Go-to-Market Strategy
- Establish a high bar for product launches and go-to-market planning.
- Connect positioning and messaging to adoption, engagement and commercial outcomes.
- Build stronger alignment across Product, Marketing, Sales, Customer Success and other teams involved in bringing products to market.
- Ensure launches are grounded in clear customer problems, differentiated value propositions and measurable objectives.
- Create systems that allow the organization to learn from launches and continuously improve.
Reimagine Product Marketing with AI
- Explore how AI can materially improve the effectiveness and scalability of Product Marketing.
- Identify opportunities to rethink workflows across customer research, competitive intelligence, messaging, content development, enablement and GTM.
- Introduce practical AI-enabled processes that improve speed, insight and quality.
- Encourage experimentation while maintaining a high bar for human judgment, creativity and strategic thinking.
- Help determine what an AI-enabled Product Marketing organization should look like over the next several years.
What We're Looking For
- Significant progressive experience in Product Marketing within SaaS, technology or another relevant digital business.
- Several years of experience leading and developing Product Marketing teams.
- Experience operating in a senior Product Marketing leadership capacity within a growing organization.
- Exceptional strength in positioning, messaging, narrative development and storytelling.
- A track record of translating complex product strategies into clear, compelling market narratives.
- Experience meaningfully evolving, rebuilding or improving a Product Marketing function.
- Strong understanding of product strategy and the ability to influence Product leaders upstream.
- Experience leading sophisticated go-to-market initiatives across multiple products or customer segments.
- Strong customer orientation and experience incorporating customer insight into product and messaging decisions.
- High standards for content, messaging and creative quality.
- Strong commercial judgment and understanding of how Product Marketing contributes to adoption, retention and growth.
- Experience leading through organizational change and gaining buy-in for new ways of working.
- Strong executive presence and the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
- Comfortable moving between high-level strategy and detailed execution.
AI Mindset
We're particularly interested in leaders who are actively exploring how AI is changing the Product Marketing discipline.
Using AI tools personally is a starting point, but we're looking for someone who thinks more broadly about how AI can transform the way teams operate.
You may have experience:
- Building AI-enabled workflows or agents.
- Accelerating customer and market research.
- Synthesizing large amounts of customer feedback.
- Improving messaging and content workflows.
- Automating repetitive PMM processes.
- Experimenting with new approaches to GTM and enablement.
- Redesigning team workflows around emerging AI capabilities.
You don't need to have every answer. You do need to be curious, experimental and willing to challenge traditional ways of working.
Leadership Style
You'll thrive in this role if you:
- Bring a strong point of view without needing to have all the answers.
- Are comfortable challenging established practices.
- Enjoy working closely with senior leaders.
- Can turn an ambitious vision into a practical plan.
- Hold yourself and others to a high quality bar.
- Are collaborative but appropriately direct.
- Develop strong leaders rather than becoming the decision-maker for everything.
- Enjoy being close enough to the work to understand where quality can improve.
- Are energized by transformation rather than maintaining the status quo.
The Profile
There are several backgrounds that could be compelling.
You may be:
- An established Senior Director of Product Marketing ready for a meaningful transformation mandate.
- A high-performing Director of Product Marketing ready to take on broader organizational leadership.
- A Product Marketing leader from a smaller technology company who has already owned significant functional responsibility.
- A senior SaaS or technology PMM leader known particularly for exceptional positioning and storytelling.
Experience with SMB, consumer, vertical SaaS or multi-product technology businesses would be valuable but is not necessarily required.
What Success Looks Like
Within your first year, people across the organization should be able to feel the difference in Product Marketing. That should show up through:
- More differentiated product storytelling.
- Stronger positioning and messaging.
- Higher-quality product content.
- Greater PMM influence on product strategy.
- More consistent and effective launches.
- Stronger alignment between Product and commercial teams.
- Clearer understanding of the overall product portfolio.
- More sophisticated use of AI across Product Marketing workflows.
- A team operating with greater clarity, confidence and strategic impact.
Ultimately, we're looking for someone who can build a Product Marketing function that doesn't simply communicate what the company builds - it helps determine how the company wins.
